GHES Admission


Accepted Research fellows from the Unites States will work for around 8 to 10 months in one of the international research and training locations/sites. Foreign fellows accepted in the program will work at their existing research and training locations/sites. There will be a mandatory orientation program for all accepted fellows in Washington DC for five days at the beginning of the fellowship.


  • This fellowship program is for 11 months and will include stipend, health insurance, modest research supply costs and travel costs to and from the international field site.
  • The five-day orientation program in Washington DC will be sponsored as well.
  • Accepted junior faculty will be provided with funding for research supplies and travel costs.


Who may apply:

  • U.S. doctoral students (Ph.D., Dr.Ph.)
  • Professional students from MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD etc who have completed 3 years of their respective schools and have a mentor (PI) at one of the partnering universities.
  • Post-doctoral students
  • Foreign scholars from participating international sites in low and middle income countries (LMICs). These can be Post-doctoral students or Professional students who have completed their studies or are currently completing their post doctoral fellowship.

New Eligibility Junior faculty (Assistant Professor with PI eligibility) with NIH K award or other career development or independence award.


The application cycle for the 2016-2017 fellowships of Global Health Equity Scholars Program has opened.  The deadline to apply is 3:00pm PDT Monday November 2, 2015.
